Musculoskeletal (MSK) physiotherapy is our area of expertise, encompassing Orthopaedic and Sports Injury diagnosis and management.

    • Prescribing certain types of imaging, such as diagnostic ultrasound or x-ray;
    • Working closely with medical specialists and other practitioners to ensure that you have optimal recovery;

      1. ASSESSMENT AND EXAMINATION *pic*

      Firstly, we do a thorough assessment and examination backed by solid clinical reasoning to establish what we call a working diagnosis or hypothesis.

      We utilize current best evidence to implement the ‘best wise action’ and formulate a treatment plan, drawing on extensive experience, pattern recognition, and, where needed, practitioner collaboration. Treatment can include:

      • Specific hands-on techniques, referred to as manual therapy, including joint mobilisation and  spinal manipulation;
      • Soft tissue techniques such dry needling, myofascial release and massage;
      • Application of modalities such as shock wave therapy (ESWT), electrical muscle stimulation and ultrasound
      • Rehabilitation and training – prescriptive exercise for non-surgical and post-surgical conditions. This is an essential part of healing where the onus shifts to the patient self-regulation;
      • Education and lifestyle management.

       

      iii. PROFESSIONAL PATIENT MANAGEMENT

    • Finally, we advocate professional management of your problem, which can include:

    Patients come to POINTPHYSIO by self-referral and by referral from medical practitioners such as GPs, orthopaedic surgeons and neurologists, allied health practitioners, personal trainers and sports coaches. Treatment is limited to the domain of the physiotherapist: we cannot prescribe medication or inject. This is called treating within our ‘scope of practice’.
